Lockdown skincare saviours

If it’s one good thing that lockdown has allowed me to do, it’s to invest my money into some good skincare. We all need some tender loving care during these uncertain times, so here are some of my favourite skincare saviours that I’ve been using consistently during lockdown 3.0. Depuff
Working from home, you forget to get up from your desk like you do in an office to go make a cup of tea and take a break. I found my eyes were looking more and more tired by the day, being glued to my laptop screen. I have been splurging on various eye creams and serums but I still go back to my super underrated eye gel, the Puffy Eye Attack Hydragel Turbo-Boost by Soap & Glory. It feels super cooling around the eye and I really feel like it makes the puffiness and lines around my eyes look instantly better. To compliment this, if I’ve worked late and have a big virtual meeting or just a zoom catch up with friends, I also like to pop on Pixi’s DetoxifEYE Depuffing Eye Patches. You get 30 pairs in one and it really has lasted me forever! Definitely worth buying for an SOS kinda day, it’s such a treat for dry eyes.

Exfoliate
hudabeauty pxiglowtonic I’ve now stirred away from gritty exfoliators and have switched to using acid exfoliators instead. I know the word acid sounds scary, but things like Glycolic Acid is used in a lot of skincare products. The Pixi Glow Tonic has 5% Glycolic Acid and I really found this helped improve my skin texture and complexion significantly. I like to use an acid toner at night to really deep clean my face using a reusable face pad (I got some from Amazon which you can throw in the wash in the bag that it comes in). If I really want to brighten my face, I love the Huda Beauty Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub. This exfoliating scrub is infused with pineapple and papaya enzymes, enzymes, BHAs and AHAs which buffs away dead skin cells, dark spots and impurities and leaves your skin with a healthy glow. It’s super quick and effective and leaves my skin smooth, making it a great base for makeup.   Smooth & Brighten

A little addition I’ve loved incorporating into my morning routine is The Ordinary’s 100% Niacinamide Powder. I have quite an oily T-Zone and Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, targets visible shine, enlarged pores and irregular skin texture. I simply add one scoop of this (a little scoop is given in the container) into my moisturiser in the morning, you can personalise this with how ever much you’d like and how frequently you’d like – It’s recommended not to mix this product with Vitamin C though.

Another product from The Ordinary that I’ve been using for forever now is their 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. I put a drop of this at night after I have cleansed my face and wake up with brighter, more even skin. I couldn’t recommend this enough to fade scars and dark spots.
Hydrate & Protect With the heating on at home, my combination skin can get dry around my nose. I recently bought the CeraVe Moisturising Cream which contains 3 essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid (the latter is the new buzzword in skincare, an acid used in a lot of hydrating skincare products). The consistency is a little thick but absorbs quickly and is perfect for winter time. To protect my skin from sun-damage and ageing, I use Clinique’s Super City Block with SPF40. It’s got a slight nude tint to it which evens out your skin and avoids having that horrible white cast that sunscreen can sometimes give you. I wear this religiously now I work near windows at home and walk my dog frequently and being an oil-free formula, I find this comfortable to wear even under makeup. There’s a suncreen for all skin-types on the market now, so save yourself from premature ageging and wear your sunscreen! So there you have it, some of my top lockdown skincare saviours. I hope you’ve enjoyed the read, let me know what skincare products you’ve been loving – It’s a great time to test some new products!
