I don’t know about you but around my office, it’s like an actual wind tunnel. I never understood why because there are so many buildings around, which you think would block the wind?! But anyway, it’s cold and usually rainy, and my favourite thing to throw on for days like this is one of my many beloved jumpers.
The high street is bursting with dozens of jumpers, some in many colours in the exact same style and vice versa. So I’ll be showing you my top four favourite jumpers that differ in colour, texture or style, so I don’t fall into the trap of looking like a walking Uniqlo mannequin.
One of my favourite textures this season has got to be this soft, crushed velvet fabric. It’s so cosy but won’t make you boil on the underground like a knit might. I’ve seen Zara sell crushed velvet jumpers but I actually picked mine up from Primark when I was looking for some warm home slippers (which are the bomb, by the way).
So it took me a while to get me into these fluffy kind of jumpers because I don’t know, they may have reminded me of the characters in Sesame Street. In fact, I may still look like I’m wearing Elmo’s Uncle but what sold me on this fluffy jumper from Pull&Bear is this lovely red wine, burgundy colour. I like to wear this with my black Missguided denim skirt and a pair of black boots to dress it up a little – matching lipstick doesn’t hurt either.
There was a time when everyone had a top with some lattice detail on the front but when I saw it on this Miss Selfridges knitted jumper on the back, I thought it just made it that little bit special. I love khaki but Miss Selfridges also have this in cream, which would look really classy with some black trousers or skinnies.
Okay so I’m a sucker for grey marl jumpers or anything that reminds me of tweed. I lived in one for years until one day my best friend saw me wearing it yet again and said, “Richa, you’ll be 86 and still be wearing that grey jumper.” So what did I do? I bought another grey one. I think the only difference with this one from H&M is that it has a nice silver zip detail along the sides, but that’s as edgy as it gets (Sorry, Paulina).
So that rounds up my favourite jumpers at the moment. I hope you came across one that you liked! Are you living in jumpers this season too?
